Participation in the Wakefield High School’s theatre program is both a privilege and a responsibility. Theatre is a collaborative art form, and the success of our work depends on mutual respect, accountability, and commitment from every member of the ensemble.

• Students are expected to arrive on time and prepared for all rehearsals, classes, performances, and calls. This means you are ready to work at the start time- not walking in the door. 
• Repeated tardiness or absences impact the entire ensemble and may result in consequences, including reassignment or removal from a production.
• Theatre is not about individual spotlight—it is about collective storytelling. Students are expected to be generous, supportive, and encouraging collaborators. “Diva” behavior, entitlement, negativity, or putting oneself above the group will not be tolerated.

Students will show respect at all times for:

• Themselves – by maintaining professionalism, self-control, and personal responsibility
• Peers – by listening, encouraging, and creating a safe, inclusive space
• The Director and – by following instructions and accepting feedback. Disrespectful language, behavior, or tone toward anyone in the program is unacceptable. 

• Students are expected to fully participate in all activities, including warm-ups, rehearsals, technical work, and performances. Side conversations, disengagement, or refusal to participate disrupt the rehearsal process and will be addressed.
• No phones or personal devices are permitted in the rehearsal room, backstage, or during performances unless explicitly approved for production-related use. Phones should be silenced and stored away upon entering the theatre space.

• Conflicts, concerns, or scheduling issues should be communicated promptly and directly to the director and stage manager
• Students are responsible for checking official communication platforms (remind, email, website) and staying informed.
• The director maintains an open door policy. Students are encouraged to ask questions, seek clarification, or discuss concerns in an appropriate, respectful manner.

Failure to uphold this code may result in warnings, conferences, loss of privileges, reassignment of roles, or removal from the production or program, depending on severity and repetition. By auditioning for a WTC production, you are agreeing to uphold these standards.
